FBCx® is a soluble fiber that, unlike any other fiber that has been studied, forms a stable complex with nine times its weight in dietary fat. Thus, in order for FBCx® to assist you in your weight loss, you must take it when you have fat in your stomach. We recommend that you take two tablets of FBCx® within one hour before, after, or during each meal that contains at least 18-20 grams of fat. Typically, North Americans consume about 100 grams of fat each day. Ideally, you need to spread this fat consumption out over three balanced and nutritious meals.
FBCx® works by binding with dietary fat; therefore, FBCx® may not be an ideal approach for you to lose weight if you are on a low-fat diet plan. If you are in habit of eating plain cereal with skim milk and black coffee for breakfast, you may not wish to take FBCx® as it is unlikely to have any beneficial effect.

Directions: As a fiber supplement, take 1-2 tablets at the start of a full meal with 8 oz. of water. Begin with 1 tablet at each meal for the first week of use. If necessary, tablets may be taken as much as 1 hour after a meal. Alpha-Fibe FBCx® works with food intake containing a normal amount of fat and a standard diet of 3 daily meals.

How FBCx® Works
We can think of digestion as a process by which we take big bits of food, break them into little bits, absorb most of the little bits, and then form big bits again with what is not absorbed and a large quantity of microbial debris from the large intestine. We put food into our mouth, where it is chewed or broken-up and suspended in salivary juices (primarily water containing a small amount of enzyme) before being forced down the esophagus and into the stomach. The stomach is basically a muscular pouch that prepares the ingested food, now referred to as chyme, for a slow and controlled release into the small intestine. While in the stomach, for approximately two to four hours, the food is continuously mixed with acid and more water in order to further break-up large pieces of food and to produce a freer-flowing suspension. If you think that your stomach is churning, it probably is. Following this thorough mixing, the chyme is slowly released into the small intestine.
Upon entering the small intestine, the chyme is mixed with bile and digestive enzymes from the gall bladder and pancreas, respectively. At this point that large droplets of dietary triglycerides (fat) form smaller droplets that are then broken down into smaller molecules by the digestive enzyme “lipase" for absorption. This is the area where the pharmaceutical Orlistat (Xenical or Alli) acts to inhibit lipase (the enzyme that breaks down triglyceride) activity consequently allowing free, undigested triglyceride to flow into the large intestine. Note that almost all nutrient absorption occurs in the small intestine. If the triglyceride is bound to FBCx large complexed droplets are formed and lipase is unable to act upon the fat to produce the smaller molecules that can be absorbed.
We have found that FBCx®, in the presence of water, forms a very stable complex with triglyceride. This stable complex prevents lipase from breaking down the triglycerides into free fatty acids and monoglycerides, thus preventing their absorption. Unlike the pharmaceutical Orlistat, the complexed or bound fat passes into the large intestine. The complexing of the fat also prevents the microbes in the large intestine from metabolizing the fat. Thus, there are no unwanted side effects like diarrhea. Consequently, there is no need to go onto a low-calorie or low-fat diet as is recommended with Orlistat.
