Made in the USA. Really that's all that needs to be said. If you need to read more...then read on!
Easy to swallow. Contains no non-desirable ingredients, such as silicon or preservatives.
Calcium carbonate may not be the most bio-available ingredient possible, however the reasonable cost make this a good trade-off.
The magnesium to calcium ratio, as I recall, is appropriate. The inclusion of zinc is a welcome addition.
When my wifes doctor asked her about screening for "vitamin" D deficiency, she proudly told him, "I already take a D supplement, with Calcium and Magnesium. My husband takes care of me."
With most Americans not getting sufficient sunlight (UV of the right type and intensity), NOW makes it easy to supplement your diet with D.
At the time of this writing, we are moving into Fall of 2008 - and those of you with "light - mood" issues and live in the Northern parts of the USA, may want to invest a little time in researching the benefits of "D".
How much, or how little may be needed is up to you and your doctor to determine. D is better described as a steroid, rather than as a vitamin. Please make your health decisions with the care of health professional.
With 50% of the RDA being in this supplement, NOW gives your plenty of lattitude to eat foods with higher bioavailable quantities of D, or to tempt yourself with a superfood rich in D.
Your body can only absorb so much calcium, at a time, perhaps there should be a recommendation to take the serving size, one capsule at a time, throughout the day. Personally, I take three capsules with lunch, daily.
I don't break bones or fracture, and haven't had a cold since using this supplement. My personal experience with some arthritis in my neck has been arrested (ie no additional pain symptoms). Coincidence? Perhaps.
