Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), Acute Infection Blood Test
This test is used to detect a suspected EBV acute infection. Epstein-Barr virus is a herpes-type virus which is the cause of classic infectious mononucleosis.
EBV is causally implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic fatigue syndrome, Burkitt's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinomas, and rare hereditary lymphoproliferative disorders.
You can check for acute EBV infection with or without fasting. This test is not included in any other blood test panel.
