Glucosamine Sulfate
Glucosamine sulfate consists of glucosamine, an amino sugar extracted from 'chitin,' a component of shellfish skeletons. 'Chitin,' the resilient polysaccharide that forms the structural framework of animal shells, is a long-chain polymer consisting of many glucosamine molecules linked together.
Note: Glucosamine sulfate is derived from the shells of ocean-growing shellfish. It is processed to remove all residues of protein and impurities, yielding pure glucosamine sulfate as the final material.
Boswellin®
Boswellia serrata is a large, branching, deciduous tree that grows abundantly in the dry, hilly parts of India. The gum resin exudate of Boswellia serrata has been used in the Ayurvedic herbal system for supporting joint function, respiratory health and liver function. Boswellin® is an extract of the purified compound obtained from the tree’s gummy resin.
Research has shown that the major benefits of Boswellia serrata in promoting healthy joints can be attributed to the active constituents of the plant known as boswellic acids. The most important of these compounds include beta-boswellic acid, acetyl-beta-boswellic acid, 11-keto-beta-boswellic acid and acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid. An analysis of samples of Boswellin® Boswellia serrata extract showed that the extract contains the major boswellic acids at high levels, with a total organic acid content of over 70%.
Curcumin C3 Complex®
Curcumin C3 Complex is a standardized extract of Curcuma longa root, commonly known as turmeric. Turmeric is a yellow spice used in curried dishes. In the Far East, turmeric is valued for more than just its culinary applications; turmeric is named in ancient Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal texts as a traditional folk remedy. Historically, turmeric was used externally for wounds and sprains, and internally to promote digestive wellness, joint health, liver function, and to support the immune system.
The active ingredients in turmeric are a group of plant substances called curcuminoids. Known collectively as “Curcumin,” curcuminoids have demonstrated potent antioxidant properties in scientific studies. Curcuminoids benefit joints and other tissues by helping to neutralize free radicals. Curcuminoids are responsible for turmeric’s distinctive yellow color. Although the term “Curcumin” is used as a name for curcuminoids, “pure” curcumin is just one curcuminoid.
